There is joy in deliverance. David was a hero of the Old Testament and a man after God’s own heart. David loved God and sang God’s praises night and day, but still He had to flee from his own son, Absalom who was plotting against him. David called out to God for deliverance, and even facing this situation he still praised God.
Coming to the Rescue
From the Lord comes deliverance. Psalm 3:8. (NIV)
There is joy in deliverance. David was a hero of the Old Testament and a man after God’s own heart. David loved God and sang God’s praises night and day, but still He had to flee from his own son, Absalom who was plotting against him. David called out to God for deliverance, and even facing this situation he still praised God.
Many of us are striving to walk closer with God. We try to do all that is required of us as Christians, yet trouble still comes. Sometimes trouble attacks us from all sides—work, home, and even in the church. A friend tries to deceive you. A co-worker tries to take credit for your work or tries to convince your supervisor that you are not capable of performing your job.
This is when we need to call on God! This is when we need to joyfully praise God and thank Him like never before. David said, “Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name; make known among the nations what He has done. Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; tell of all His wonderful acts” (Psalm 105:12).
After we praise God in our own private way, let us praise God in witness. Our witness of praise will help someone else to hold on until God comes to the rescue. Praise the Lord!
Heavenly Father:
I give You all the praise and all the glory. Thank You for always coming to my rescue. Thank You for restoring my joy. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
