“ Lord” is the Hebrew word for Jehovah and Jehovah means that God is eternal, self-sufficient, and self-existent. God is the God who created the heavens and the earth. These things have changed over time, but God does not change. God is the God who has no beginning and no end. In Malachi 3:6, God is referring to His attributes of patience, longsuffering, and mercy. In Malachi’s day, many of the people thought God would change. But God has always remained faithful to His promises.

“I the Lord do not change. So you, O descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed.” Mal 3:6, NIV
God was available to you yesterday and healed you. God answered your prayers yesterday. God helped you with issues with your child or children yesterday. God got you that promotion your job yesterday. God protected you from harm and danger yesterday. That same God is available to do it for you all over again today. The same God is available for you again tomorrow. Isn’t that good news? God doesn’t check a notebook and say, “Nope, mercies for you today. Sorry you received mercies yesterday. Nope, no grace for you today. Sorry, you received grace yesterday. Nope, no healing for you today. You received healing yesterday. And nope, no faithfulness for you today. You received faithfulness yesterday.
The God who created Adam and Eve, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God who created you—this God, the “I Am God”— is the one who was there when your head was buried a slimy pit. This God is the God who reached down out of the mud and mire. This God is the God who set your feet on solid rock! This God is the God who gave you a place to stand. This God is the God who put a new song in your heart to praise God for all has done (Ps. 40:2). We don’t have to worry, we don’t have to fear anything, because God is available to us. God was available yesterday, God is available to us today, and God will be available us tomorrow.
God healed me! Some may say that it was some type of metaphysical, metamorphic happening when God healed me off my sick bed.
God erased my debt! Some may say it was some type of technological chip malfunction that caused my debt to be forgiven, but I say it was my God who is always available.
Once I was spiritually blind and now I see. Once I was sinking deep in sin, but I have been redeemed through the blood of the Lamb, Jesus! Like Father like son—the same yesterday, today, and forever. Be not dismayed, God is faithful and will take care of you. The available God—the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Amen.
Heavenly Father:
How excellent is Your name in all the earth. For You are a faithful God. Father, help me to be faithful in my walk with You. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
