This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is love; not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 1 John 4:9-10. (NIV)
He Loves Me—He Loves Me Not
This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is love; not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 1 John 4:9-10. (NIV)
There is an old whimsical way to determine if someone loves you. You take a flower, usually a daisy, and begin pulling the petals off, while repeating, “He loves me, he loves me not.” Whichever part of the verse you were saying as you pulled off the last petal was your answer. Pulling off the flower’s petals this way supposedly determined if you were truly loved by the person you were thinking of.
Isn’t it wonderful news to know that God does not have us pulling off flower petals to find out if He loves us. God decided to loves us as we are. God does not switch up or change on us. He just asks us to love one another. John said, “Dear friends, since God so loved us, we ought to love one another, God lives in us and His love is made complete in us” (1 John 4:11-12).
Since God is love, and God is in you (1 John 4:16), what do you do with all that love? Do others have to pull flower petals apart to find out if you love them or love them not? No matter how much love we think we give to others, it can never match God’s love for us. Go ahead! Give away some unrestricted flower petals of love today. Praise the Lord!
Heavenly Father:
I exalt You! I worship You! I magnify Your Holy name. Thank You for loving me. Help me to be more loving to others. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
