Since September 11, 2001, those of us in the United States have been on constant alert to turmoil. There is unrest in the Middle East and other parts of the world that we cannot control. But, what about the peace that we can control? How peaceful are our own surroundings? And what part do we play in that peace? How peaceful are our homes? How peaceful are our churches? How peaceful are our jobs? How peaceful are our marriages, or our relationships with family members and others?
Promoter of Peace

There is deceit in the hearts of those who plot evil, but joy for those who promote peace. Pov 12:20 (NIV)

We cannot control the actions of others, but God has given us freewill to choose to be quiet or worrisome. God has called us to seek peace and pursue it (Ps 34:14). God has called us to pray for everyone and live peaceful and quiet lives in godliness and h oliness. This pleases God
(1 Tim 2:1-3).

And how do we do this? We can begin by seeking God’s help to unclutter our lives. Have you noticed how noisy
a cluttered room seems to be? But, once you put that cluttered room in order, it appears peaceful. This is what happens to us when we unclutter our lives of issues that are causing us to be loud or quarrelsome. When we pray and seek God’s help in removing our clutter, we can become peaceful. We can become promoters of peace. Are you
a peace promoter? Praise the Lord!

Heavenly Father:

I praise You and exalt You. Thank You for the peace you have tucked in my heart. Help me to serve as a peace promoter for You. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
